Abel Euresti Salazar, 64, of Greeley, Passed away on March 17, 2021 in Greeley, Colorado. He was born to Jesus and Eloisa (Euresti) Salazar on June 18, 1956 in Greeley, Colorado.
Abel grew up and attended schools in Greeley. He enjoyed being around family and friends. Coming from a migrant farm working family, Abel grew up closely with aunts, uncles and cousins. Abel always showed respect to his aunts and uncles and at times lived with them as his parents went back and forth to Texas. At the age of 13, Abel and his best friends taught themselves how to play instruments just by listening to music because they did not know how to read sheet music. They had a small band in the garage and would enjoy hanging out. Abel played the electric bass guitar. They enjoyed learning the music notes of Grand Funk and The Temptations. His best memories of this was when they played at UNC, in front of a huge audience. Abel’s first car was a 1969 GTO Mustang, he often told stories of racing his car down the one way and cruising around D block. In 1978 when the movie Centennial was filmed in Weld County, Abel and a few of his cousins were Indians in the film. He had great memories of this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Abel worked for the Local Laborers Union 720 in Denver, CO. He was a very hard worker and was very passionate about his work. During his labor construction career he helped build many of Colorado’s entertainment sights, DIA, Coors Field, Union Station, Budweiser Brewery, The Trails at Bear Lake, he also helped complete much of the paver construction in downtown Greeley. He enjoyed taking his family to see these sights from the beginning of construction until the project was complete.
In his spare time Abel enjoyed listening to music and collecting albums and cassette tapes, going to Coors Field, bowling, Horsetooth, Estes Park, watching western movies, movies with John Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, and Clint Eastwood. He was very proud of his home, doing tile work, planting beautiful flowers and keeping up with his yard. He also enjoyed working on his 1955 Chevy Pickup.
Abel was blessed with two families.
From 1974-1981 Abel and his wife Karen Carbajal lived in Greeley with their two children Gabriel Salazar and Denelle Salazar.
On July 20, 1985 Abel married Susie Sendejo. Married for 35 years, they raised their family with the importance of Christ as the center of their lives. They enjoyed dancing together and could always be found at the Boy’s and Girl’s club coaching their children in football, baseball and softball. He enjoyed taking his family on vacations every summer, and he made sure all the holidays and birthdays were BIG celebrations! Abel enjoyed showing his children dance moves and would make them copy him for hours. He was always wrestling with his nephews and would tell them, you better learn how to defend yourself, they knew as soon as they entered the house they had to have a wrestling match.
Abel is survived by his wife, Susie (Sendejo) Salazar; children, Gabriel Salazar, Denelle Salazar, Amanda Salazar (Leopold Rivera), Jacklyn Salazar (Jonathan Rippeth), Abel Salazar Jr. (Dyana Aguilar); 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his mother; Siblings, Andrew Salazar (Margie Guzman), Amy Salazar (Tom Montoya) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and large extended family and friends.

Abel was preceded in death by his father; siblings, Angie Montoya, Adam Salazar and Arthur Salazar.
