Obituary

Arlene Della Boone, 68, of Greeley passed away August 7, 2020 at North Colorado Medical Center. Born May 21, 1952 to Raymond R. Trujillo and Mary S. Trujillo at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California.

Attending San Diego area schools Arlene graduated from Kearny Mesa HS in 1971. During this time she was involved in scholastic activities, sports, choir, and enjoyed a full family and social life. As a native to San Diego, Arlene was an avid fan of both the San Diego “Super” Chargers, and the Padres, the respective Football and Baseball teams of the area.

On June 17, 2003, she married Ronald Lee Boone, of Greeley, Colorado, in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. One of her biggest joys in life was being a Mother and Grandmother to her three children and five grandchildren. Arlene made a point to be there for everything she could for them. From the birth of a child to a flag football game or cheer performance.
An employee of the state of Colorado for 25 years, Arlene used her hard work ethic and determination to rise through the ranks in the Division of Water Resources and retired September 2014 as Engineering Tech 2. She was honored with the award for Support Staff Of The Year, in 2002. Arlene made many friends during her time with DWR and remained in contact with many of them after her retirement.

Arlene was a member of the Corvette West Car Club, Greeley CO, since 2001 and served as Vice President, and Officer at Large. With her 2006 Z57, 400 horsepower Corvette, Arlene liked to go fast. One of her fondest memories was when the club was on their way to Spearfish, South Dakota, she got the vette up to 140 mph to catch up with the rest of the group after being stuck behind a “slow driver”. This was obviously inspired by her love of NASCAR. After watching the pros do it on television, she thought she would try her hand at it.

As a member of VFW 2121 Auxiliary in Greeley, she served as Jr. Vice President, Sr. Vice President, and President, and served on many Auxiliary projects, but really enjoyed the projects for the children in her community. She was also serving as Department of Colorado VFW Auxiliary Guard at the time of her death. Arlene was also a member of the Greeley/Evans Moose Lodge 909 (WOTM 2020) and proudly served one term as the Junior Regent.
With all that Arlene accomplished and was involved in during her life, what she enjoyed most above all was loving and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by; her Husband Ron, Children; Jason Shands, Greeley CO, Justin Shands Greeley CO, and Christopher Stewart, wife Heather Stewart, Greeley CO. Grandchildren; Taylen Shands, Xia Shands, Asher Adams-Shands, Xadee Shands, and Liam Stewart. Sisters; Grace Robledo, and Lisa Rosales. Stepchildren; Ryan Boone, wife Jennifer Boone, Shannon (Boone) Ragsdale and husband Frank. Step grandchildren; Ashlynne Boone, Brenden Boone, Carson Boone, Devin Boone, Otiana Ragsdale, and Alana Ragsdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond R. Trujillo and Mary S. Trujillo. Brothers; John Trujillo, Ronald Trujillo and Raymond Trujillo.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday August 22 at Adamson Life Celebration Home in Greeley, CO. The family asks that wearing masks and social distancing be observed. Family and friends may leave condolences at www.adamsoncares.com.

I was saddened to hear of Arlene's passing. I first met Arlene through phone calls when she worked in Greeley for DWR, and I was glad when she joined the Denver Office, as I got to work with her in person. She was such a light, a positive person, and she brought a really good energy to the workplace. We had a wonderful party in the office and out to lunch to celebrate her retirement and thank her for all the hard work she put in. I could always count on conversations with Arlene being upbeat, kind and caring. It really speaks to the kind of beautiful person she was in life. I know she will be deeply missed by so many.
