Viola “Vi” Mae Yount
July 28, 1935 ~ February 24, 2020
Viola Mae Yount, 84, of Greeley, CO, passed away on February 24, 2020 in her home surrounded by family and loved ones.
Viola was born on July 28, 1935 in Muskogee, OK to James and Sharlet (Drinkwater) Bullard. She grew up in Oklahoma and Garden City, Kansas with her husband Don, and three children, she lived in Greeley for close to 60 years. She earned her Master’s degree at UNC in Greeley and taught Elementary Education and Speech Pathology in District 6, she taught and loved on her kiddos for 24 years. She was a family person through and through. Vi loved nurturing her children, her husband, family and friends. She was “Grammy” to more than her grandchildren. Everyone loved “Vi”. She was an amazing listener and friend. When younger, she loved both camping and horseback riding with her family in the mountains of Colorado. She grew to love playing “old lady” card games like crazy 8’s, hand and foot. Vi was one who was always dressed up “to the 9’s”. She loved her hair and make-up done just right, jewelry and nail polish too. She loved her roses and being out in nature. One of her favorite meals was meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, with a glass of red wine. Dutch Bro’s coffee with a friend was always a delight. At home she would pour a coffee and microwave it throughout the day to keep it HOT!
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, 2 children, and her husband Donald Yount. She is survived by her daughter Debbie (Dave) Barker of Greeley, her siblings, Homer (Shirley) Bullard of Texas, Louise (Jerry, deceased) Harrison of Texas, and Ruth (Ron) Brungardt, of Greeley, including her 11 Grandchildren, and 22 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her lady- card friends Jan Drew and Sue Brighi.
