Obituary

Daniel Rey Garcia (74) was born in George West, Texas, on September 4, 1945, to Jose and Anita (Ybanez) Garcia. He grew up strong and disciplined and was educated in San Antonio, Texas where he later graduated from South San High School. Daniel eventually attended technical college before serving in the U.S. Army from August 1964 to February 1967. He was raised with dignity and stood firmly on the truth. He was a man of high morals and believed there was no such thing as a “half-truth”, because anything removed from the facts was considered a “lie”. He met his wife Esther Brown while they were still in high school, and together the pair would accompany their siblings, Joe and Neomi, on double dates before marrying in San Antonio, Texas, on June 28, 1969, and transplanting in Colorado in the summer of 1972.

A family man, Daniel was a wonderful storyteller and jokester with a dry sense of humor. He loved art, fishing, hunting, boating, and was a jack-of-all-trades. Skilled in woodwork, mechanics, and electronics, there was nothing he could not do. He enjoyed traveling, and with his perks from United Airlines, he was afforded the opportunity to explore the world. He loved his country and dutifully served in Vietnam where he experienced many things in the time of war. He believed breakfast was the most important meal of the day and for years could be found sharing a full plate of potatoes, eggs, and all the fixings with his favorite child and adopted daughter, a furry Maltese he affectionately named “Dolly”.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred and Joe. He is survived by his brother David Garcia of San Antonio, his wife Esther Garcia of Greeley; his children Christie (Blane) Juhl of Fort Collins, Anthony (Cassandra) Garcia of Commerce City, and Stephanie Garcia of Greeley; and 12 grandchildren – Jacob, Christian, Isabella, Noah, Aidan, Ellyanna, Austin, Kayley, Mia, Daniel, Anabella, and Celeste.

Celebration of Life Service will be at Adamson Life Celebration Home on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. for viewing, 11:00 a.m. for service, followed by internment at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at 2:30 p.m. Join us for reception to follow at Millennium Event Center, 815 10th Street, Greeley 80631 at 6:00pm.
