Del played piano in my band, the Crystal Swing Band, for 30 years. I met him when we both played in the pit orchestra at the Nomad Theater in Boulder, Colorado. He was a good friend and great musician. He had tons of fake books, and would bring boxes of them to a gig, and would know exactly which one had the song someone requested. It was amazing! He and I were always the last ones at the gig, as he was loading out his piano and I was loading out my drums. We helped each other and he always waited until I was loaded up and ready to go until he left, sometimes late at night. We always joked how many times we had done that. Turns out it was hundreds of times over the years. He had a great sense of humor. I will miss that, along with his laugh and smile. He was one of a kind! My condolences to his family.
