Emma Lou Fisher, 91, passed away on February 8, 2021 in Greeley, Colorado. Emma Lou Midcap was born to Walter and Dorothea (Fisher) Midcap on October 5, 1929, the second of five children. She graduated from Platteville High School in May 1947. On December 21, 1947, she married Donald E. Burgess in Hudson, and they raised three children. He passed away in 1973. Emma married Walter L. Fisher on May 29, 1982; they were married 34 years until his passing in 2017. Emma worked for School District 6 while her children were young, Aims Community College, and retired from the University of Northern Colorado after 25 years. She was a volunteer at North Colorado Medical Center after retirement.
She is survived by her son, D. Roger Burgess and wife Connie of Greeley, daughter Sharon Huffman of Montrose, and Ranae Koons and husband Paul of Greeley. Sister Helen Corcilius of Windsor, and Peggy Williams and husband Ron of El Paso, TX. Sister-in-law Mary Lou Midcap of Parker; step-children, Ronnie Fisher and wife Nina of Milliken, Connie Fisher of Filer, Idaho, and Vicky Lambert and husband Carlon of Port Charlotte, Florida. Emma’s life included 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; sister, Marjorie Whittington and husband Earl, brother Robert Midcap, brother-in-law, Doug Corcilius, son-in-law, David Huffman, grandson, Benjamin Burgess, and stepson, Richard Fisher.
Life Celebration will be held at 11 am, Monday, February 15, 2021 at Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Avenue in Greeley. Contributions can be made to the Nazarene Church through Adamson Life Celebration.
