Obituary

Gertrude “Trudy” Lehrer, 95, of Greeley, passed away at her home on February 10, 2021, surrounded by family. She was born October 18, 1925, in Manitoba, Canada, to John and Margaret (Geisbrecht) Funk.
Trudy grew up in Canada and received her nursing degree from St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing in St. Boniface, Manitoba, in 1950. She married Paul L. Lehrer on August 20, 1953, in Larchmont, New York. She moved to Greeley in 1965 and worked as a surgical nurse at Weld County General Hospital (now North Colorado Medical Center) for over 20 years before retiring. In 1982 Trudy went back to school and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Saint Francis in Joliet, Illinois. She traveled the world and had a passion for seeing and experiencing new and different cultures. Trudy played volleyball and went to the Senior Olympics medaling in softball; she loved spending time in her garden in her later years.
Trudy is survived by her two daughters, Karen Lehrer of Fort Collins and Kari and husband Ron Broughton of Greeley; two sons, Roger and wife Rhonda Lehrer of Land O’ Lakes, Florida and Mark and wife Linda Lehrer of Black Hawk, Colorado; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and her brother Menno Funk and sister Evangeline and husband John Neufeld all of Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers; Bill and Jacob Funk and sister, Hilda Peters.
A private family service will be held. Inurnment Fort Logan National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 W. 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634.
