Obituary

Harland Raymond Stoll, 95, of Greeley, Colorado passed away January 29, 2021 in WheatRidge, Colorado. He was born to Fred and Elizabeth Stoll on May 3, 1925 in Windsor, Colorado. Harland was raised in Greeley with his family where they ran Stoll’s Market and Produce.
He continued living in Greeley. He attended Meeker Junior High School and Greeley Senior High School where he was awarded intramural athletic achievement for officiating as well as participating in a number of sports.
He met the love of his life and married Dorothy Jean Reynolds on November 23, 1947. They were blessed with 2 children, their daughter Cynthia Sue Stoll (Nothnagel) and their son Harland Mark Stoll. Above all, he loved his family and devoted himself to their well-being.
Harland was a man of simple pleasures “never looked for praises, never one to boast, he just went on quietly working for those he loved the most”. He gave to everyone his undivided attention. Harland put everyone before himself. He was a man of deep Faith, a kind spirit, a gentle soul who looked at life as a gift from God. Harland was always at peace watching a sunset and giving thanks for another day in his life.
Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Harland knew that he loved putting his hands in the dirt, planting and cultivating tulips, Columbines, trees, vegetables anything that brought more beauty and joy to his yard, along with the many birdhouses he had hanging from his backyard trees. He fed the birds every day and could tell you what kind of bird it was just by hearing them chirp. He taught us how to pick the most delicious watermelon, any produce we asked him about and how to pick the perfect Christmas tree. In the 80’s Harland finally got to have the one thing he wanted for years….his greenhouse that was named HarLands Nursery and Market Garden that he and his son Mark built together. You would enter and smell the fragrance of the beautiful aromatic flowers, hear classical music playing and see the most picture perfect hanging baskets. It was hard to pick one because they each spoke to your heart with their individual colors, and Harland’s amazing creative design of flower arranging. He got to have, live this vision and he made so many people happy with their purchases and the knowledge that he would share with any question asked.
“LIFE HAS IT’S OWN HIDDEN FORCES WHICH YOU CAN ONLY DISCOVER BY LIVING” Soreen Kierkegoard…..and that is who he was.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Stoll, his parents Fred & Elizabeth Stoll, siblings Wilbur Stoll (brother) and Wilma Albrandt (sister)
He is survived by his children, Cynthia Nothnagel, Mark Stoll, his 5 grandchildren, Summer Mondragon, Crystal Leyba, Addaline Stoll, Brigham Stoll, Augustus Stoll, 3 great grandchildren, Dillon Martinez, Kaylee Mondragon, Zachory Mondragon and one great great grandchild Kyler James Martinez.
As a family we continue to embrace his life and all of the gifts he branded in our hearts with his unconditional love.
