Obituary

Jackalyn’s beginning years were filled with fun, silly giggles, playing kitchen with her younger sister, Aubree and jumping in leaf piles her granny raked together on a fall afternoon. She also loved riding the lawn mower tractor with her papaw and snuggling with her Aunt Alicia in her bed. As Jackalyn grew, her life was full of play dates, swinging on her swing set and digging in her beautiful custom sand box made by her papaw. Jackalyn’s Grandparents in Oklahoma City were special too. Driving to OKC had memories of its own. One of them was driving the Turner Turnpike and stopping mid-way for a treat at McDonalds. Another of Jackalyn’s favorite past times was putting her baby doll to bed in a hand-made cradle that was built by her Grandpa Pearson, while Grandma Pearson was always having hugs and no-bake cookies. Another precious memory was Jackalyn and Grandpa Pearson’s birthday were only a few days apart, so they celebrated their birthday over a special cake. Jackalyn had her funny Uncle Bob and Aunt Kim that made the best crafted gifts that she truly loved so much. Robert and Mitchell referred to the “boy cousins” made her trip to Oklahoma City full of fun and laughter. Aunt Brenda was the Aunt with a big heart, caring for animals, a gift giver and mother to the “girl cousins”, Erika and Kaylee. Dance and cheer, little girl secrets and being followed around the “boy cousins” filled the times in OKC.

Jackalyn attended Barnard Elementary, Wilson Middle School, and Edison High School. Jackalyn’s life was drastically changed on July 8, 2004, where a car crash left her with a traumatic brain injury. Even though her life would never be the same, she was a happy young lady full of life, going to church, the swimming pool, family time, adventures and love. Most of all, it was all the precious moments she spent with Jack, Andrew and Annabelle, her niece and nephews, that brought the purest joy to her life. She had the biggest smiles when they would crawl up on the wheel of her chair and kiss her check and say, “I love you Aunt Jackalyn” or when she held each one of them after they were born and the boys wanting to push her around in her chair while Annabelle tickled her feet. What joy they brought her!

I believe if Jackalyn could have talked to us she would want us to know she loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Jackalyn’s faith was important to her. Filling our Big Gray Van full of kids and hauling them to church were some of her best times. She would want everyone to know that she is healthy, whole, walking and talking with Jesus and that would be the hope she has for all of you - to know her Blessed Savior. As Jackalyn’s parents it was the greatest privilege to raise, care, and love her all 32 of her years. She will be greatly missed. Jackalyn, until we see you again in Heaven, we will cherish the memories and will love you always.

Having a girl cousin 9 months older than you was like having a sister to play with every time they came around. I have so many memories to cherish with Jackalyn. When we were younger we would play dress up in old dance costumes or dresses and make funny performances for whoever would watch. We would make up the silliest stories and laugh at how ridiculous we could make it. As we got older, we got into make up and did other teenager things together. Jackalyn got her drivers license 9 months ahead of me and i was SO excited to go for a spin her car. Boy did we feel like we were something going down to Quik Trip for a frozen coffee smoothie while blasting Spice Girls and TLC over the radio! I loved being around her. One of my favorites memories is walking her down the aisle at her sisters wedding. It such a special day that I’ll never forget. And my most recent favorite memory was when our whole family stayed in Colorado for a few days, eating Aunt Jamie’s yummy food, watching the little kids play with their Aunt Jackalyn, taking group photos. I’ll never forget our secrets, special passwords to enter our room, car rides and sleep over memories. I miss her, lover her and can’t wait to see her again ♥️
