Obituary

Jimmie L. Shook, 89, formerly of Boulder and Eaton, died June 29, 2020 in Michigan.

Mr. Shook was born in Whitesboro, TX on January 16, 1931, one of five children to George and Eva Shook.

Jimmie enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 and served in the Korean War, stationed at F.E. Warren AFB, McChord AFB, WA, and also in Japan. While stationed at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, he met his soon to be wife, Eulene Souther. They wed on August 31, 1952 and were married for 47 years until her death on January 25, 1999. They had two children.

After separating from the USAF, he pursued several employment positions to include telephone lineman and butcher, but ultimately, he decided on a career in Elementary Education, receiving both undergrad and graduate degrees from Colorado State College (now UNC). He was employed in several teaching and counseling positions in California, Texas, and New Mexico, then, accepting a position as elementary school principal in Boulder, CO with the Boulder Valley School District in 1969. Upon his retirement from BVSD in 1984, he was employed by Storage Tek Corporation in Boulder, CO and later, Total Petroleum in Denver, retiring in 1996.

He married his second wife, Peggy Schriner in Boulder, CO on August 15, 1999. They moved to Clinton Township, Michigan in 2014, where she still resides.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Eulene, his parents, and his siblings; Robert Raymond Shook, Daisy Faye (Shook) Killough, Terry Thomas Shook and Gladys Helen Shook.

He is survived by Peggy Schriner, his children; Lynda Faye Smith and Daniel T. (Isabelle) Shook, both of Boulder, Colorado, grandsons; Jared Daniel (Maddie) Smith and Jesse Leon Shook, great-grandson Jaxson Wade Smith, Peggy’s family; Teryl (Alan) Eisinger of Clinton Township, MI, Jana (Pete) Hill, of Ann Arbor, MI, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside inurnment service will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. in the Eaton Cemetery, Eaton, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to “American Foundation for the Blind” in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634. Friends may leave condolences at AdamsonCares.com.
