Obituary

Robert “Bob” Swetzig, 90, passed away peacefully at The Bridge at Greeley on May 30, 2021. He was born April 10, 1931 to Conrad and Mollie Swetzig, Bob grew up in the local area and graduated from Greeley High School in 1950. He met Barbara Dill and they were married May 2, 1952.

Bob was instrumental in opening the Greeley location of Ehrlich Motor’s and bringing the Volvo and Datsun dealerships to the northern Colorado area. He owned Swetzig Auto World in Greeley for a number of years. Bob was active in the community; he helped many young people in learning about auto mechanics and lessons of life.

He was a lifelong member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Greeley Elks Lodge #809 and delivered hundreds of food baskets for those in need. He was also a member of Toast Masters and the Moose Lodge. Bob was a huge football fan and loved the Denver Broncos. He loved drag racing, poker, basketball and bowling. Bob was an avid swimmer up until a couple of weeks prior to his passing. He was an instrumental member of the UNC Blue and Gold Club and announced local high school and UNC Bears football games on KFKA. Bob cherished Sunday and holiday dinners with his family. He was very supportive of his daughters in all their endeavors. Bob and Barbara were members of Greeley Wesleyan/Generations Church.

He is survived by his children DeAnna Kay Swetzig, Jody (Wally) Phillips, Sueann Swetzig; sister Juanita (Carl) Smith and three grandchildren Lindsay Phillips, Brandon Phillips and Jordan Perkins.

Preceded in death by his wife Barbara, parents, brothers Kenneth Swetzig, Gene Swetzig, Gilbert Swetzig and sisters Joyce Bohlender and Lenora May Swetzig.

Visitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00 pm, Thursday, June 10 at Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Ave. Greeley, CO 80634. Life Celebration will be 1:30 pm Friday, June 11 at Generations Church, 3600 22nd St, Greeley, CO 80634 followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held at Generations Church after the interment.
