Obituary

Steven Michael Kielian, age 32, of Milliken, Colorado, joined his heavenly Father on March 26, 2021. Steve was born November 6, 1988 in Greeley, Colorado to Steve and Karen Kielian. He grew up in Milliken with his siblings Ryan, Katie, Britt, and Tessa. As a child, Steve enjoyed playing sports. He played football, basketball, baseball, and ran track. Of all of these, football was his favorite. While attending Roosevelt High School in Johnstown, Colorado Steve became the starting quarterback of the football team. Steve led his team into the playoff’s multiple years. Steve also competed and placed in state track as a Rough Rider.

Along with sports, Steve had a love for cars. After high school, Steve and his dad restored a 65 Mustang Fastback. In 2007, the car’s bright red paint and sleek black racing stripes won Steve top 20 for the “Check Auto Parts Best Appearing Car” at Bandimere Speedway. This car was his pride and joy for a lot of years.

On December 2, 2009 Steve’s new pride and joy entered the world when Steve and Kellie welcomed their son Steven Dean Seward-Kielian. Like his father, Stevie shares a love for sports. Family was everything to Steve. He never missed an opportunity to brag about one of his family members or to share their accomplishments with everyone he met. Steve was never too busy to play baseball with his nieces and nephew or cheer on his siblings at a sporting event.

Steve also had a great passion for music. He spent any extra moment he had listening, writing, recording, and performing his songs mostly with his brother, Britt. Britt and Steve had a group called Phoenix Rise and individually Steve’s artist name was Rapture. If Steve wasn’t performing at his own concert, he was singing along at any concert he could attend.

Ever since Steve was a little kid, he loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He would always say, “Go Big Red!” to any passing Husker fans and often wore his Nebraska gear. Steve enjoyed watching the football games with his family on Saturdays and going to Memorial Stadium to see the Huskers in action.
Over the years, Steve worked for the family business in commercial construction.
Steve definitely had a huge heart. He was always someone who would give advice, be a listening ear, motivate people to be the best they can be, and help anyone in need. Steve couldn’t pass someone less fortunate without helping even though he himself had very little. He bought pizza and took it to homeless shelters and gave many people literally the shirt off his back.

In his last few months, he built puzzles, flew kites, collected rocks, made tie-dye shirts, watched Stevie play basketball, took the kids to get Slurpee’s, and enjoyed life with the people he loved.

Steve is survived by his parents Steve and Karen Kielian of Milliken, Colorado, his son Stevie Seward-Kielian of Yuma, Colorado, his brothers Ryan (Candace) Kielian of Johnstown, Colorado, and Britt Kielian of Milliken, Colorado, his sisters Katie (Andrew) Zehnder of Denver, Colorado, and Tessa Kielian of Johnstown, Colorado. He is survived by his grandparents Bill Murphy of Greeley, Colorado and John and Sharon Kielian of Milliken, Colorado, his nieces and nephew; Alexis, Kylee, McKenzie, Bailey, and Blake Kielian, and Kaylin Zehnder. He is survived by his girlfriend Rebecca Spaur of Gill, Colorado as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Grandma Laverna Murphy.

Steve’s Life Celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5 at Grace Community Church, Johnstown. Interment Johnstown Cemetery with a reception following at the church.

Our prayers are with the Kielian family on the loss of Steve. I felt a special connection to him through Middle school sports he played that I coached. He was always fun to interact with and never failed to seek me out for a conversation when I saw him around town. It is a shame that he is gone at such a young age.
